Historic Reddick High School Gymnasium
Built in 1951 by Clarence Gall, this gymnasium is up for Historic Preservation in Kankakee County Illinois due to its rare engineering and architectural design. Since its construction, the gym has undergone very little change. The barrel-vaulted roof, with ribs of glue-laminated wood is in great condition, as is the original wooden floating floor.
For 37 years it was home to the Reddick High School Bulldogs sports teams in the R.U.C.E. (Reddick, Union Hill, Campus and Essex) Community School District and later for the Reddick Grade School as part of the Herscher School District.

Friendship Shoe Fence
This fence consists of dozens of pairs wearable shoes. Shoes are tied together & hung over the woven wire fence or just hung on the fence. Some are placed on the ground in baskets or boxes if it is too hard to hang them. A person may take shoes and also leave shoes.
The Shoe Fence is located at the south end of 6th Street in Cornell and continues south out of town.

The oldest station on old Rt 66, the Standard Oil Gas Station in Odell, IL is part of the National Park Service Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program. It is located at 400 S. West St. in Odell, IL.

Oughton Carriage House/Prairie Creek Library
The carriage house of the Oughton Estate was built and originally used to house the prize cattle and horses for the Oughton family. It was later converted into a treatment and recreation building for the Kelley Company. In 1989 the Oughton family donated the building to the Dwight Public Library.
It was placed on the “National Register of Historic Places” on September 23, 1980.

Chatsworth Wreck 1887
On August 10, 1887 a small town became a community of heroes when an excursion train fatally crashed. The train departed from Peoria, Illinois and was headed for Niagara Falls when a bridge collapsed, killing 85 and injuring 365.
The citizens of Chatsworth came to the rescue for these strangers on this ill-fated train as makeshift hospitals were set up in private homes and public buildings were turned in morgues.
